Colin Oliver is an officer in The Rifles and has commanded at platoon and company level. He has served on operations in Northern Ireland, Iraq, Afghanistan, Beirut and the Balkans, as well as working in a number of operational planning jobs in the Ministry of Defence. In 2015 he was awarded the MBE. A follower of all sports he, like the rest of the nation, has been a keen follower of the 2018 World Cup.
